If your Xbox Series X or Series S powers on (light on, fan running) but the TV shows no signal, the HDMI port is the first thing to suspect. Both console models use a similar port design and fail in similar ways.
Damage usually comes from tight cable fit, the console being moved while plugged in, or repeated hot plugging when switching between TVs.
Quick checks
- Test with a different HDMI cable and a different TV or input.
- Boot with the console laid flat and the cable inserted gently, not forced.
- Look at the port for cracks, a pushed in connector, or bent pins.
- If picture works on some TVs but not others, the port may have partial pad damage.
Series X vs Series S
The HDMI fault pattern is the same on both models even though the cases differ. Series X ports sometimes get damaged when the console is stood vertically and weight rests on the cable.
