If your Xbox Series X or Series S powers on (light on, fan running) but the TV shows no signal, the HDMI port is the first thing to suspect. Both console models use a similar port design and fail in similar ways.
Damage usually comes from tight cable fit, the console being moved while plugged in, or repeated hot-plugging when switching between TVs.
Quick checks
- Test with a different HDMI cable and a different TV or input.
- Boot with the console laid flat and the cable inserted gently, not forced.
- Look at the port for cracks, a pushed-in connector, or bent pins.
- If picture works on some TVs but not others, the port may have partial pad damage.
Series X vs Series S
The HDMI fault pattern is the same on both models even though the cases differ. Series X ports sometimes get damaged when the console is stood vertically and weight rests on the cable.
